From an early age, I have loved drawing and eventually entered the world of Yuzen, the traditional Japanese art of Kimono dyeing.
I apprenticed under a renowned Yuzen artist and, after years of training, became an independent artist, creating Kimono fabrics for many years.
Yuzen requires working within established motifs, compositions, and commercial expectations.
After reaching the midpoint of my life,I began to feel the desire to step beyond these boundaries and paint freely, creating what I truly wanted to express.
The colors, decorative qualities, and sensibilities I developed through many years of working with Yuzen naturally continue to appear in my paintings.
Rather than leaving them behind, I embrace them as an essential part of my artistic identity.
Tday, I paint freely and without being confined to a particular genre.
I hope to create works that I can enjoy marking, and that, in turn, speak quietly and meaningfully to those who view them.
